By the end of March 2020 some of our daily routines took a major shock with many states of our nation calling for a lockdown of major areas where social interactions occur: schools, restaurants, doctors offices, malls, libraries, etc. It has been like this for a few months now. This was due to a pandemic break of Coronavirus (Covid19). Coronavirus is a pneumonia like virus that began at the end of December 2019 in China they then informed the the World Health Organization of the cluster of patients that contracted the virus. Praying for our nation and the world that we will come out of this season stronger. Allowing ourselves to keep many of the changes that are beneficial to our families and society in place that are best for growth. In this season of being required to have to stay at home for the well-being of my family and myself has not been extremely challenging for us personally. This is just one of those adjustment and adaptation periods. Although being a stay at home mom is still somewhat fresh to me. It is all about adjustments, adaptations, safety, and using necessary precautions to maintain our health.

In recent news there have been several unfortunate cases of lives of several African Americans suffered horrific wrongful deaths either at the hands of law enforcement or civilians who happen to be of a Caucasian decent. Our nations as whole is fed up of the systemic racism that has occurred for decades against minorities. There has been protests, and riots occurring in every state calling for justice for these individuals families. What is Justice? one definition of justice is the quality of being fair and reasonable.
As a parent and an African American there isn't a day that goes by that I don't question or worry for the safety of my children. Will they be treated with justice and fairly by their character and not by the color of their skin? That deeply saddens me and breaks my heart, that has to be a question for myself and many parents in 2020. There will be stories and memories I have put in the back of my mind of instances of systemic racism that I have experienced personally. This nation put into place a simple principle that has not been fundamentally applied appropriately at all. What is that principle I speak of? The Pledge of Allegiance and it states: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all." That last line is very important, if we are a nation that is supposed to stand on this principle then why is it still in 2020, we have turned a blind eye to those very words.

As a nation in order for change to occur and for justice and peace to rest upon us we must truly become one nation under God. It is time for the churches of America to rise up and petition God for these very things we are seeking justice, liberty, and peace and unity amongst all races. With these recent incidents of injustice my heart has been so heavy but not just for the African American community but for our nation and the world as a whole. So many people are suffering and God is certainly not pleased and He wants to shock us into realization that we have gotten so far away from Him. We all must be an advocate for the things that hurt us all, we are our brothers and sisters keeper!
